Getting her start doodling on butcher paper covered tables in restaurants and practicing interior design with lipstick in her Barbie play house, Josie Donda’s creativity showed at an early age. Born and raised in Arizona, Josie attended Arizona State University where she earned her Bachelor's in Graphic Design. She particularly enjoys painting, drawing, and video editing. However, when Josie is not designing, she might be watching the latest movies/tv shows, playing with her dog Koda, or listening to 80’s rock. Josie hopes to explore and expand her skills as she furthers into her career.
Coral bleaching is a phenomenon that occurs when coral reefs expel the symbiotic algae living within them. This expulsion leaves the coral’s appearance stark white, hence the term "bleaching" and without algae, the coral is vulnerable and slowly dies. Prolonged or severe bleaching events are typically caused by high sea temperatures and are causing a ripple effect throughout not only the marine ecosystem but for humans as well. As these vital habitats decline, so does biodiversity, livelihoods of communities, protection of coastal areas, sources of jobs and income, etc. Ultimately, coral bleaching shows us the intricate connection between healthy ecosystems and the well-being of human populations, emphasizing the need for global efforts to address climate change and protection for habitats.
