Clara Christensen is a Graphic Designer born and raised in Arizona. After studying Graphic Design in high school, she attended Arizona State University to receive a BSD in Visual Communication Design. In the summer between junior and senior year, Clara interned with Brad Hall Companies, which opened her up to the world of marketing within design.
Growing up in a world that communicates mostly online is affecting younger generations’ mental health, specifically depression. Teens in our society live in a world where communication and entertainment are at the tip of our fingers. Spending more time on social media has been leading to a rise in many teens feeling isolated, experiencing FOMO, and not spending enough time outdoors, leading to depression.
A simple solution would be to spend less time online, but the addiction to social media keeps teens on their phones for an average of 8 hours and 39 minutes. The temporary “high” of activity online keeps teens coming back, while the symptoms of depression rise underneath the surface.
